The 糖心直播 campus police department and the Student Affairs Office coordinated a special color guard flag ceremony witnessed by friends, family and fellow officers before Chief Livingston signed off on his radio for the last time, connected to the Jones County dispatch for all his fellow officers to hear.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was bittersweet,\u201d said Chief Livingston. \u201cI\u2019m blessed to be at this point in my life and I\u2019m blessed to be around good people at Jones, and all through my career. I just hope I\u2019ve reached some people and made a difference.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Livingston served the college for 12 years but his prior service in law enforcement includes working for the Laurel and Hattiesburg police<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jcjc.edu\/jcnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/dan-johnson-and-chief-small.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3110 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jcjc.edu\/jcnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/dan-johnson-and-chief-small-282x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"282\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jcjc.edu\/jcnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/dan-johnson-and-chief-small-282x300.jpg 282w, https:\/\/www.jcjc.edu\/jcnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/dan-johnson-and-chief-small-768x818.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.jcjc.edu\/jcnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/dan-johnson-and-chief-small-961x1024.jpg 961w, https:\/\/www.jcjc.edu\/jcnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/dan-johnson-and-chief-small.jpg 1500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 282px) 100vw, 282px\" \/><\/a> departments, the Jones County Sheriff&#8217;s Office, and the Jones County School System as South Jones High School\u2019s Resource Officer. Additionally, he served in the U.S. Army Airborne Division, National Guard 624<sup>th<\/sup> QuarterMaster Co. and was honorably discharged in 1995. While serving in the Army, Livingston earned the 1992 Adjutant General Military Leadership Award and the 1991 Army Achievement Medal-Leadership Award.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter serving in the military, his dream was to be a police officer,\u201d explained Livingston\u2019s wife, Tina, who also works at 糖心直播. \u201cWe had three young children, a new house, two vehicles and with God\u2019s support, he did it! Our kids never went without. They didn\u2019t always have everything they wanted but we always had what we needed. Knowing he risked his life daily for others, she shared, was something he loved doing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe worked long hours and sometimes 24\/7 when he worked in narcotics. I\u2019m not going to say it wasn\u2019t hard on us, but he always made it work. He has lots of stories to tell and accomplishments,\u201d said Tina Livingston.<\/p>\n<p>Some of those accolades include being the 2015 糖心直播 Administrator of the Year Award. We\u2019re going to witness him being able to retire, walk away in good health with his family. That\u2019s important to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His 糖心直播 colleagues gave him several retirement gifts to enjoy in his off time.
