  {"id":1030,"date":"2019-11-22T16:52:48","date_gmt":"2019-11-22T16:52:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jcjc.edu\/jcnews\/?p=1030"},"modified":"2019-11-22T16:52:48","modified_gmt":"2019-11-22T16:52:48","slug":"jones-colleges-concert-choir-christmas-celebration-to-help-salvation-army-toy-drive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jcjc.edu\/jcnews\/news\/jones-colleges-concert-choir-christmas-celebration-to-help-salvation-army-toy-drive\/","title":{"rendered":"糖心直播\u2019s Concert Choir Christmas Celebration to help Salvation Army Toy Drive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ELLISVILLE \u2013The annual 糖心直播 Christmas Celebration featuring the Concert Choir will offer the audience the opportunity to enjoy the Christmas season musically and through giving this year.\u00a0 Concert Choir Director, Dr. Joel Dunlap is asking the audience to bring one, new, unwrapped toy to benefit the Salvation Army\u2019s Angel Tree Toy Drive as admission to either of the two concerts on Thursday, December 5, or Friday, December 6, at 6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Laurel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re happy to help the Salvation Army in their efforts to make Christmas a special time for the kids in the Pine Belt,\u201d said Dunlap.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s theme, \u201cI\u2019ll be Home for Christmas\u201d will be highlighting the popular Christmas songs from World War II such as, \u201cI&#8217;ll Be Home for Christmas,\u201d \u201cHave Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,\u201d and \u201cSleigh Ride.\u201d The concert will also feature well-known Christmas classics such as, \u201cO Holy Night,\u201d \u201cJoy to the World\u201d and Johann Sebastian Bach\u2019s \u201cJesu, Joy of Man\u2019s Desiring.\u201d\u00a0 The concert\u00a0will conclude with the choir&#8217;s signature finale, \u201cAngels We Have Heard on High.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year\u2019s Christmas Concert Celebration will be spectacular!\u00a0We have such a tremendous group of students in our choir and I am looking forward to sharing the unique theme, \u2018I&#8217;ll Be Home for Christmas\u2019 with our audience.\u00a0We also have a superb orchestra\u00a0and as always, I am delighted that the Laurel Ballet Academy will be joining us.\u00a0This has been a highly-anticipated event each year and we\u2019re especially proud to be able to assist the Salvation Army this year,\u201d said Dunlap.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the concert choir will feature two soloists, Alexandra Arnold and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jcjc.edu\/jcnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/alex-arnold-11-19-.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1031 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jcjc.edu\/jcnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/alex-arnold-11-19--226x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"226\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jcjc.edu\/jcnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/alex-arnold-11-19--226x300.jpg 226w, https:\/\/www.jcjc.edu\/jcnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/alex-arnold-11-19-.jpg 354w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 226px) 100vw, 226px\" \/><\/a>Reagan Arnold. Laurel\u2019s Alexandra Arnold was the Southaven Junior and Senior High School choir director from 2013 until 2016, before moving to Glade Elementary school to teach music and theater for the last three years. Reagan Arnold is a 2017 Jones graduate from Collins and is currently in his last semester at the University of Mississippi. Additionally, he is on scholarship with the St. Andrews United Methodist Chancel Choir under the direction of Dr. Bradley Robinson. At Ole Miss, he is a member of the University Choir and Concert Singers and plans to pursue a graduate degree in vocal performance after completing his B.M.E.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1032\" his favorites while a member of the JC Concert Choir is singing John Rutter\u2019s, \u201cGloria.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cComing back as a guest soloist is a dream fulfilled for me as a vocal
